Repo! The Genetic Opera is really bad.
Like seriously.
Listen to Graverobber and At The Opera Tonight on Youtube.
Congratulations, I just saved you two hours.

No. Its not bad at all. You're absolutely insane if you think its bad. Sarah Brightman is a testament to her ability to hijack a musical with her voice, Anthony Stewert Head is great with his two voices when he goes from the Repo Man to Shiloh's father. Yes, it has tempo problems when switching scenes, but it was made for the stage. And whoever played Rotti Largo was wonderful as well.

And its not called Graverobber. You are either thinking of 21st Century Cure or Zydrate Anatomy, both of which are incredible songs. And if you want to hear the best song in the movie, its Sarah Brightman singing Chase the Morning. I also think Things You See in a Graveyard and Gold are excellent as well. The songs Shiloh sings could be better, although Let the Monster Rise is a wonderful duet.

And the constume design! Oh. My. Gods!

Sorry Bob, but I had to let everyone know how insane it is to say this movie sucked. This movie does not suck. Admit it, Zydrate Anatomy is stuck in your head right now!

Seriously? Not bad AT ALL? Yes, the costumes were good, yes the talent was good, but the script was terrible. There were a couple of songs I really enjoyed (Legal Assassin, Zydrate Anatomy), but the rest were forgettable, at best. This was the movie's biggest failing. If the rest of the songs were up to the quality of those two, or even better, it could have really elevated the movie into something fantastic. I guess I have to give it up to them for not relying on the cliched ending, but I was really expecting some revenge movie type badassery. I wanted to see Anthony Stewart Head go on a brutal killing spree, culminating in him ripping out Rotti's fucking heart. Instead, we got Rotti dying of natural causes, ASH getting lamely shot, no one ever discovering the truth about Marni's death, and the lame "twist" that Nathan was poisoning his daughter the entire time. Shylo didn't even inherit the company, which would have added at least some resolution to an otherwise pointlessly bleak ending.

I also think they had way too much shit going on in the movie. There were so many sub-plots and so many characters fighting for screen time that the characters I really wanted to see (Ohgr, Paris Hilton/Luigi) had hardly any screen time, and basically no development.

Oh and "Seventeen." Seriously? Maybe its because I just watched the Rent stage play a week ago, but I was expecting a lot more out of this movie. If they hire some more experienced broadway writers to flesh out a less awkward script, I think there is a lot of potential for a sequel.
